Be Apart of Our Talented Team

We are actively seeking highly motivated individuals to join our lab as Ph.D. students, postdoctoral researchers, master’s students, undergraduate researchers, or visiting scholars. Our lab focuses on cutting-edge research at the intersection of artificial intelligence, mobility systems, and cyber-physical infrastructure, and we welcome candidates passionate about building the future of intelligent transportation.

Current research topics in our lab include:

  • Autonomous and cooperative driving
  • Multi-agent perception, prediction, and planning
  • Vision-language and foundation models for driving
  • Generative behavior modeling
  • Infrastructure-based multi-modal perception
  • Mixed-reality testing and digital twins
  • Mobility network optimization and resilience
  • Spatiotemporal mobility intelligence
  • AI agent modeling and simulation at city scale
  • Data-driven transportation planning

Selected candidates will contribute to one or more of these areas, including hands-on work with connected and automated vehicles (CAVs) for perception, planning, and control experiments, as well as analysis, modeling, and large-scale simulation of future mobility systems.

Candidates are required to have strong programming skills (e.g., Python, C++, Java), with experience in large-scale software development projects beyond basic coursework.

We are particularly interested in applicants with backgrounds in:

  • Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
  • Robotics and Control Systems
  • Data Science and Large-Scale Simulation
  • Computer Vision and Multi-modal Perception
  • Transportation Engineering and Cyber-Physical Systems

If interested, please contact Dr. Jiaqi Ma at jiaqima@ucla.edu with with your CV and a brief statement of interest. Funding is available, and compensation is based on experience and qualifications.
